June 2017

Three events took place on June 2017. Discover them accordingly:

1) The Coordinating beneficiary (NOA) participated at the 3rd European Climate Change Adaptation Conference-ECCA2017 (http://ecca2017.eu/conference), held in Glasgow from 5 to 9 of June 2017, with an oral presentation entitled “ADAPT2CLIMA: Adaptation to climate change impacts on the Mediterranean islands’ agriculture”.

2) During June 2017, ADAPT2CLIMA team organized an educational trip to Spain, which is considered a pioneer among the countries of southern Europe in terms of climate change adaptation.

During the first two days of the trip, the project team visited the Spanish Office of Climate Change in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, as well as the Technical University of Madrid. The project team had the opportunity to discuss the Spanish National Climate Change Adaptation Plan (PNACC) and to share experiences on adaptation in agriculture in the Mediterranean region with both Spanish national authorities’ members and scientific experts.

During the last two days of the trip, the project team visited two family-owned olive farmlands in Andalucía, Oro del Desierto (http://orodeldesierto.com/en)and Castillo de Canena (http://www.castillodecanena.com/en), in order to see in practice agricultural techniques concerning water and soil management, as well as management of pests and diseases, which are implemented with great success in one of the driest regions of Europe.
