Development of adaptation strategies of agriculture to climate change impacts, official adoption of project results by the public administrations

The case of Cyprus

In Cyprus, the "National Strategy for Adaptation of Cyprus Agriculture to Climate Change", developed in the frame of the ADAPT2CLIMA project, was finalized last summer and set on public consultation from September to November 2019. On November 1, 2019, the Strategy was presented at the Agricultural Research Institute’s (ARI) headquarters in Nicosia with the presence of Mr. Costas Kadis, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.

Official presentation of the National Strategy of Cyprus for the adaptation of agriculture to climate change.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of the Republic of Cyprus presented to all relevant stakeholders the National Strategy of Cyprus for the adaptation of agriculture to climate change. The presentation took place on the 1st of November 2019 at the Agricultural Research Institute of Cyprus, Nicosia, where all stakeholders had the chance to express their opinions.

This two-hour webinar intends to provide an opportunity for sector stakeholders to learn about, discuss and exchange experiences about climate change adaptation challenges in agriculture.

The event takes place as part of the pilot study on Climate-ADAPT: Dissemination and capacity-building supporting adaptation in the framework of the EU adaptation strategy - Building a community of practice, initiated by the European Commission.
