The overall aim of the LIFE ADAPT2CLIMA project is to increase knowledge on the vulnerability of EU Mediterranean agriculture to climate change and to support decision making for adaptation planning. The methodology is based on the deployment of a set of climate, hydrological and crop simulation models for the assessment of climate change impacts on agriculture, as well as, on the development of a decision support tool for the elaboration of adaptation strategies for the agricultural sector.Read more
According to the European Environment Agency (EEA)'s recent Climate change adaptation in the agriculture sector in Europe report (2019), crop and livestock production is projected to decrease and may even have to be abandoned in parts of Europe’s southern and Mediterranean regions due to climate change.
The overall aim of the LIFE ADAPT2CLIMA project is to increase knowledge on the estimated climate change impacts to the agricultural sectors of Sicily, Cyprus and Crete. The methodology for the assessment of impacts is based on the deployment of a set of climate, hydrological and crop simulation models.
Climate change constitutes one of the main global threats we must face this century.
Significant climate change impacts are already visible globally, and are expected to become more pronounced in the future.
